History

Pius X ITI Edathua is a pioneer institution named after Pope St. Pius X. It began on November 5th, 1962. It completed its 60 glorious years of existence, which included principles instilled by the Jesuits who have run the institution since its founding and industrial training. This facility is run by the Kerala Jesuits Society to educate suitable youngsters in five trades: electrician, electronics mechanic, draughtsman civil, fitter, and welder. Fr.Jose Mekkatt SJ, who served as the first principal, began by teaching three trades.

With numerous services in various communities, it has deep roots in Kuttanad. Pius X ITI has solidified its place in the community it serves by focusing on industrial training and the expansion of technical education. In 1954, the Central Government's Industrial Department offered industrial training throughout all of India. As part of this intervention in the nation, the Pius X ITI collaborated with Archbishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu and later Jesuits Provincial Fr. Joseph Edamaram to mentor and train young people in Kerala, particularly in Kuttanad, to reduce poverty and economic inequalities there. The institution now occupies a respectable position among Kerala's other forerunners, leading the way in better industrial training, value education, and the development of qualified tradesmen for the labour market.

The Pius X ITI is moving forward under the direction of the Jesuit's management intending to fulfill its motto of "Do Well What You Do, To Love and To Serve."
